The United States Environmental Protection Agency published a study entitled "Implementation Study of the Electronics Recycling Standards R2 and e-Stewards©" which identifies several areas where EHS performance could be improved by integrating software solutions into the EHS process.

The study was composed of interviews with 39 stakeholders across the electronics recycling industry and included observing audits and documenting the findings and conclusions of the EPA in the report.

Downstream Audits - When looking at strengths across the facilities included in the study, the EPA sites "an emerging good practice in which facilities are setting up software programs that will prohibit shipping to destinations that are not approved in the software system".

Monitoring and Measurement - A suggested strategy for improvement identified in the report is to standardize "monitoring and measurement software for the electronics recycling industry, crossing all operational and compliance areas".

Nonconformity, Corrective and Preventative Actions - The reports calls for the industry to "develop easier-to-use tools for doing CAPA [corrective and preventative action] related work - e.g., apps for smart phones and tablets, software for facilities (noting that operational folks are less inclined to user paper and forms)".

Reliant EHS can help your facility modernize and streamline its operational compliance practices in all of these areas and more saving you time, improving EHS performance and increasing employee engagement.
